Bill Gordon, Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership (MARL) Class IV member, credits his MARL experience with helping him develop into an effective leader. He is currently vice president of the American Soybean Association, and will become president next year.

Southwest Minnesota State University's 10th permanent president, Dr. Kumara Jayasuriya, comes to the institution with a steadfast commitment to public education. "I've worked in the systems in Indiana, Purdue and West Virginia. One of the things that attracted me to this position is the fact it is part of a larger system (Minnesota State). I have a lifelong commitment to public education," he said. President Jayasuriya started his duties on July 1.

The Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has named Kumara Jayasuriya to serve as the 10th president of Southwest Minnesota State University. The appointment will become effective July 1, 2019.
