SMSU announces the spring semester 2020 Dean's List

A group of 26 Southwest Minnesota State University Secondary Education students recently took on the role of teachers at many classrooms at Marshall High School (MHS).

A new scholarship program created for high school students in southwest Minnesota has been announced by Southwest Minnesota State University. The President's Regional Scholars Award is a $6.9 million investment that includes the opportunity for qualified students to earn a full-ride scholarship to SMSU.

Crystal Enga, a senior Early Childhood Education major from Marshall, Minn., used her background in theatre to qualify for the 2019 Interstate Oratorical Association Tournament to be held on April 27-28 at West Chester University in West Chester, Pa.

Southwest Minnesota State University President-designate Dr. Kumara Jayasuriya was introduced to the campus and community on Thursday, March 21. He begins his duties on July 1, 2019

That's what 1994 SMSU alumnus Carlton Lance said recently about his son Trey, a redshirt freshman at North Dakota State University who quarterbacked the Bison to the Football Championship Series (FCS) national championship Jan. 11, the eighth title in nine years for the Bison.

Bill Gordon, Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership (MARL) Class IV member, credits his MARL experience with helping him develop into an effective leader. He is currently vice president of the American Soybean Association, and will become president next year.
